About Levaquin Side Effects 500 Mg in Q&A
I was prescribed levaquin 500 mg for a sinus infection left foot pain? I was prescribed levaquin 500 mg for a sinus infection. Before that I was taking clindamycin for a week with no improvement thus the swtich to levaquin. Now I was somwhat aware that there was some serious side effects with this drug but i had taken it before with no ill effects plus the doctor kept reasuring me that this is what i need to be on and it would be okay for me to take. I only took it for three days and then stopped because my left arm kept going numb. I stopped taking it on friday.Monday morning I had some terrible pain in my left foot. I ended up in the E.R this evening because the pain kept getting worse. He told me I had tendentious and it was due to the levaquin. He told me to ice it and it would better. I have been off levaquin for 3 days why is the acting up now. Isn't it all out of my system by now? Or will it take longer for it to leave my body. I also have some wicked heart burn and everytime I take a deep breath I get a pain in my lower shoulder/back area. I dont want this tendentious in my foot to turn into a tear or rupture.

sokokl replied: "It may take a few more days for the medication to get out of your system which can explain why the tendon is still acting up. I would recommend getting in touch with your primary care physician through the after hours line to see if they are on call tonight to let them know what's going on."

is it safe for me to be taking levaquin 750 mg at 17 years old? i have Epididymitis and my doctor proscribed me levaquin 750 and naproxen 500, i have read up on levaquin and found that many people think its dangerous. i just want to know now because i just started it and i want to know if there is a safer alternative. (only side effect so far has been depression)

ckm1956 replied: "I've taken Cipro (a related drug with the same "danger") for close to a month. No tendon damage. Nothing but a cure. Cipro & levaquin are really good drugs for problems in the urogenital system."

Levaquin for severe kidney infection in teenager? Well, i'm 16 and i just got back from the doctor and he prescribed me 500 mg levaquin for a kindey infection that was apparently a pretty bad one. He said if i would have waited one more day i may have needed to be hospitalized. Anyways, so i went online to research the drug and im basically scared out of my wits to take it. I've heard so many horror stories about drastic side effects with this antibiotic. Plus i'm really not even old enough to be taking it without parent consent. Of course my mom was there and consented too it, but still. Has anyone had any bad effects from this? I really don't know what to do now :( I am going to take it, because i know it's bad. I'm just a bit of a hyprocondriac when it comes to medication.

scorpiorising75 replied: "If your kidney infection is bad enough that you are nearly hospitalized, you better either take your prescription or go to the hospital right now for an alternate strategy. This is not the time to be waffling over whether or not you should take your treatment."

Amelia.$$ replied: "Goshh thats harshhh."

Carlos M replied: "Levaquin is an excellent drug for kidney infections. Every medicine has side effects. A kidney infection is very serious. If you end up in the hospital they will probably give a similar or even stronger antibiotic."

MeMa replied: "Any drug can have side effects. You don't want to mess around with your kidneys. If your mom approved you taking this drug, then do so. Watch very carefully for any signs of skin rashes and/or eruptions. If you experience any, discontinue use and seek medical help immediately."

johny c replied: "I have seen lots of people where I work take this medicine with no bad side effects or reactions. Take it with someone present if you are scared so they can help you call the doctor if you have a reaction. Much better to take it now than maybe end up on IV antibiotics later. Good luck"
